Surabhi’s paintings are an artists impression of the inner landscape of the human mind, whicy delves into various aspects of everyday life experiences. The designs showcase a sense of fluidity and movement through each ridge and crevice formed on the canvas.
With her new collection ‘Unbridled Thoughts’, she has been inspired by the desire to experiment with materials and has challenged the traditional perception of painting. Flowing spaces, dynamic sculptural forms and textures have been introduced to render a distinctively unique appearance to each artwork. This allows her to develop a new technique which communicates both fragility and strength.
By using aluminum reinforced papier-mâché, Surabhi creates an array of landscapes that are an inevitable parts of our daily lives - striations that symbolize rising challenges, hopes that are sown and responsibilities that are taken. As we continue to navigate through the ups and downs, shades and shadows, we come across pockets of memories that narrate a history and visually stimulate you.
Her work explores the undulating lines, unruly skin of the paper and this becomes the texture of the artwork. Just as our experiences weigh heavily on our mind and bodies, the final image though simple and effortless, creates a definite experience through these varied textures.

In this series, Surabhi has explored Abstract Realism, combining the two opposing genres into one painting to create a beautiful space, where dreams and reality merge. Her experimentation with modeling paste and acrylic paints has resulted in an array of textures that make an imprint.
She has created shallow sculpture like effects on the canvas and a larger realistic painting around it. The three dimensional effect on the canvas draw the eyes of the viewer and encourage them to touch and explore her paintings. When viewed from a distance, the subject takes shape, symbolic of taking a step back to see a clearer picture.
Cycling through different subject matters, she has a common theme of nature in this series. Shades of pale yellow with hints of gold, conjure up comforting feelings of hope, happiness and spontaneity. Deep and powerful Prussian Blue mixed with the yellow creates subtle shades of green, that render serenity and stability to the compositions.
